Viridor chooses Middleton conveyor for MRF

The conveyor, expected to handle between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes of material a year, can be used to carry a range of recyclables including paper, card and plastics, while feeding an existing picking station where unwanted materials are removed from the waste stream.
As well as increased capacity and speed, improvements on the previous conveyor include a spring loaded levelling gate to ensure a consistent flow of material.
Kevin Bishop, regional recycling manager for Viridor, said: This is an important upgrade for the Priorswood site, adding additional capacity and speed, which will directly benefit our service to customers across the region. Reliability is crucial to us and Middletons have been able to come up with a number of design improvements to make routine maintenance and access to the cleaning pit easier.
He added: Viridor has used Middleton Engineering over a number of years for both balers and conveyors. Its not just the quality of the machinery; its the full service that makes the difference for us. We know if we have an issue it will be quickly resolved.
Worsley Plant adds Variolock to attachment range

Worsley Plant has entered into a partnership with construction supplier Lehnhoff Hartstahl, to become exclusive UK distributor of the Germany-based companys Variolock Quick Coupler System.
The Variolock range of automatic quickcoupler systems, used for hydraulic excavators, includes tool attachments that are safe and fast to change. These include the hydraulic connection, which can be operated from the cab.
According to the manufacturers, easy handling of the attachments also provides increased safety and comfort for the operator, as well as less contamination of the hydraulic system and prevention of hydraulic hose failure.
Variolock joins Worlsey Plants wider range of attachments including crushing and screening buckets, grabs, shears and pulverisors.
Doosan launches DX85R-3 excavator
Equipment manufacturer Doosan has launched the latest generation of reduced tail swing excavators to replace its previous DX80R model.
The DX85R-3, powered by a Yanmar 4TNV98C, meets the Stage IIIB emission requirements through the use of exhaust gas recirculation and diesel particulate filter after-treatment technologies.
The large capacity two-stage forced air cleaner removes more than 99% of airborne particles, reducing the risk of engine contamination and lengthening the intervals for cleaning and cartridge change. Integrated grease piping is designed for easy maintenance of the swing bearing and swing cylinder.
The model also featured a new load sensing system, as well as an increased traction and bucket digging force of 6.3 tonnes.
More Bins creates compact events recycling system
Event industry supplier More Bins has created a range of mobile recycling collection stations to add to its range of upcycling products.
The kit has been designed with on the go colour-coded bags with the capacity to hold 1,000 cubic litres of material and lined for easy maintenance and dry hire options.
Commenting on the station design, which can also be folded flat and compacted for transportation between industry events, owner Chris Nowell said: After nearly 5 years of development it all seems to have come together, Im totally blown away by the response weve had from everyone last summer, its fantastic to know that people are really supporting are efforts to increase recycling and reduce waste at events.
The new stations have had a massive wow effect and we have seen a big increase in participation.
Optisort unveils second generation battery sorter
Waste system specialist Optisort has announced the launch of OBS 2.0, the companys second generation battery sorter.

The product offers a feeding system which allows the throughput of eight batteries per second, improved line-up with accurate classification and improved accessibility for maintenance.
Sorting batteries based on their chemical composition, the machinery can also harvest detailed information on the models and types of battery processed.
Hans Eric Melin, chief executive officer of Optisort, said: Since we launched our first machine in 2012, we have worked alongside our customers to identify hardware and software improvements in the automatic sorting of batteries process. Following many hours of research and development, we now have developed a system which has broader commercial appeal. Its faster, more accurate and more reliable than ever.
Meanwhile, Optisort has also introduced a rental offer for recyclers with short-term tenders with compliance schemes, enabling them to handle smaller volumes with less expenditure.
