A statement from the British Recovered Paper Assciation said that it was concerned that the company carry on its business because any alternatives could be “another blow to the UK’s ability to have a viable paper industry which is key to achieving the recovery targets set by the government”.
BRPA director Ray Watson said that he hoped that the outcome of the administration would be positive and that the mill would continue operations.
The plant produces coloured papers and lining papers and is a purchaser of various recovered material including mixed paper and coloured grades.
A statement from East Lancs said that the administrators plan to work with the management team to continue to trade the business “with the objective of achieving its refinancing or its sale as a going concern and will immediately undertake a detailed review of the business to try to return it to profitability as soon as possible”.
