Plastics recycler Delleve acquired by Irish firm

Irish company JFC Manufacturing has acquired UK plastics recyclers Delleve Plastics and its sister company Reprise.

JFC has bought Delleve, manufacturers of Twinwall plastic piping and one of the UK's biggest plastic bottle recyclers, from owner Derrick Clarke for an undisclosed amount.

With the acquisition, rotational moulding and plastic products producer JFC now owns Delleve's manufacturing and plastic bottles recycling operations in Stratford-upon-Avon and St Helens.

Plastic bottle collection and sorting company Reprise went into voluntary liquidation in June 2003 (see letsrecycle.com story), but has now been acquired by JFC from the liquidators in order to be revived.

JFC plans to invest around 3 million over the next few years into Reprise and has spent four months relocating and refurbishing operations adjacent to Delleve in St Helens. Using new technology the new plant will process 8-10 tonnes this year but will eventually have an annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes.

The recycling operation in St Helens has been rebranded as JFC-Delleve and is being run by Delleve's general manager Lee Clayton.

Guarantee

Some councils were left unpaid for their collected plastic bottles after the two occasions on which Reprise went into liquidation in the last few years. John Concannon, managing director of JFC, admitted that regaining trust of local authorities will be essential to the running of the new business.

“We guarantee that everyone who supplies us will get paid,” he told letsrecycle.com. “We can assure them that it will not happen again. It was old technology but that has been replaced and we have new management.”

The acquisition has allowed Delleve access to the Irish and European export markets as Galway-based JFC also has sales and distribution facilities in Holland as well as a plant in Poland.

Mr Concannon said: “Everyone in JFC Group looks forward to the challenge ahead. I am confident that with the support of the local authorities and recyclers we can make a difference to the environment and divert significant amounts of waste plastics bottles from landfill.”
