Shake up at Veolia Environmental Trust

The Trust awards grants to community and environmental projects through the Landfill Community Fund. Mr Dodds will succeed Lord Lewis of Newnham FRS who held the position for six years. Meanwhile Mr Laurie has stepped up from his role as the organisations operations manager.

Commenting on his new position, Mr Dodds said: Having served on the Board for several years, assessing applications and visiting projects like Hall For All, I have got a real insight into the good the organisation and the Landfill Communities Fund does and how grants help UK communities improve their facilities and the environment. It is a great honour to take this position and follow Lord Lewis and I am sure that, with Veolia’s support, we can continue to help make a real difference to people’s lives.

Mr Laurie added: The Trust has awarded over 48million to worthy projects and it is an honour to carry on this good work. Looking forward, I see a wide range of issues facing the environment and communities across the UK and I am confident that the Trust can respond to these challenges. Reconomy looks to grow with new sales director

Outsourced recycling and waste management company Reconomy has appointed Matt Nichols as sales director in a bid to reach a target of doubling its turnover by 2016.

Prior to his board appointment at Reconomy, Mr Nichols had worked in businesses development, sales and general management at several companies, including heating and plumbing goods supplier Wolseley and Wilts Electrical Wholesale.

Commenting on Reconomys ambitions, Paul Cox, managing director at Reconomy, said: Reconomy has enjoyed continuous growth over recent years and has further ambitions to double turnover to 80m by 2016. Matts experience and ambition match that of Reconomy and I am confident that with a strengthened management team we shall continue to lead the UK market in sustainability management, waste handling and recycling services.

Mr Nichols said: Im delighted to be joining Reconomy at such an exciting stage of the companys development.

WAMITAB appoints new commercial director

WAMITAB, the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board, has appointed Mark Hyde as its new commercial director.

Previously Mr Hyde was commercial director for the National Academy for Sport and Active Leisure. Prior to this, his experience ranges from work at the bank Abbey National and the Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce. In addition to this he ran his own rewards and incentives business for six years.

WAMITAB said Mr Hyde will join the organisations recently appointed chief executive Chris James (see letsrecycle.com story) in helping to fulfil the awarding bodys plans for growth, development and renewal.

REGAIN Polymers boosts team with three recruits

Yorkshire-based plastic recycler REGAIN Polymers has taken on three new members of staff, two in sales and one in accounts, in a bid to grow the companys client base.

Adrian Frain and Graham Cook have been appointed as business development managers to work alongside technical sales director Mark Roberts and his team to provide additional customer support. In addition to this Katey Curtis has joined the Reconomy team as a management accountant, with responsibility for profit improvement, costing and sales ledger.

Commenting on the new roles, Mark Roberts said: We are delighted to welcome Adrian, Graham and Katey to the team at such an exciting time for REGAIN Polymers. Since increasing both our capabilities and capacity to supply the market, earlier this year, we have experienced a strong level of demand. The new roles are fundamental to support our 2012 growth plans, so now couldnt be a better time to strengthen our team with more experience.
