Simon Little joins Andusia from Cory

Recovered fuels exporter Andusia has announced the appointment of Simon Little as commercial director.

Mr Little –  who joins from Cory Riverside Energy –  will be responsible for sourcing and managing Andusia’s RDF supply contracts for both the export and domestic energy from waste market.

He has more than 15 years’ experience in the waste and recycling sector, starting out as sales manager for the south division of the Waste Recycling Group before moving to Powerday, where he spent ten years as sales and marketing director.

Most recently he was commercial director at Cory Riverside Energy, which he joined in May 2019 as commercial director.

Steve Burton, director of Andusia, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Simon to the team. Simon is a very well-known face in the UK waste to energy sector and brings with him a wealth of industry experience. It is not every day that you get a chance to add someone with Simon’s talents to the team, and I know that Simon will be a huge benefit to the business.”


WAMITAB chief steps down

The chief executive of the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB), Chris James, has stood down.

This follows an announcement last month that WAMITAB will be more closely integrated into the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) (see letsrecycle.com story).

Since 2017, WAMITAB has been part of the CIWM Group. CIWM group chief executive Sarah Poulter will be taking forward the integration plan for the two organisations in consultation with both CIWM and WAMITAB trustee boards.

Dan Cooke, the newly-appointed chair of the WAMITAB board, said: “In common with most organisations, 2020 has been a challenging year, and it is important that we take steps now to consolidate our ongoing financial sustainability and resilience. The closer alignment of CIWM and WAMITAB is central to this strategy.

“We would like to thank Chris James for his leadership and drive over the last eight years; he has played a key role in successfully steering WAMITAB to its current position”.


J&B Recycling adds to sales team

Hartlepool-based recycling firm J&B has welcomed a new business development manager to its sales team.

Charlie Payne has been brought in to “aid the continued growth and development of the company”, according to J&B.

His role focuses on following up business leads help clients increase their recycling rates.

Mr Payne said: “J&B Recycling already has a great reputation; and I am really looking forward to pushing the brand awareness further as the company offers a wide range of services such as general waste collections that run alongside the recycling collections.

“The more J&B vehicles and J&B bins we get out there, the more people hear about us.”


Reconomy CEO shortlisted for national awards

Reconomy Group CEO, Paul Cox,  has been shortlisted for the Inflexion Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the  2020 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

Previous winners of a National Business Award include fitness sensation Joe Wicks, Timpson CEO James Timpson OBE, dementia newspaper Daily Sparkle and online fast fashion firm Missguided.

The Telford-based company describes itself as “the UK’s leading provider of outsourced waste management and recycling services”, working with companies across the construction, infrastructure and commercial sectors.

It says its turnover has almost tripled in three years to £325 million, thanks to its “technology-enabled approach and ambitious acquisition strategy, spearheaded by Paul Cox”.

Commenting on being shortlisted, Mr Cox said: “Reaching the finals for this award is a very proud moment for me, but more importantly is recognition of the dedication and hard work from everyone in our fantastic team at Reconomy. I’m very proud of the growth and innovation we have delivered these past couple of years, and the great service we continue to provide to our increasing customer base”.
