Explaining the partnership agreement, the two businesses said it will allow for the provision of joint solutions to help councils “ensure waste crews follow direct and fuel efficient routes and that they keep to agreed customer collection slots”.

Addressing service challenges seen throughout the coronavirus lockdown will also be part of the agreement, said Yotta and ISL. The software, they note, could be helpful in making some suspended services, such as bulky waste and garden collections, operational again.
Through the partnership working, the pair say that local authorities will be able to access Yotta’s asset management software, Alloy, in order to access ISL’s route optimisation software, RouteSmart, faster and more easily.
The partners said that the data drawn from RouteSmart will be used to “enhance route optimisation for local authority customers and consultancy services delivered around that, before the strengthened data sets are rough out back not Allow to drive further operational efficiencies”.
Consultancy
The partnership will also roll out consultancy services to support the new joint service solution, which will focus on waste collection, street cleansing, green space and other environmental services. The partners said there is potential for this to be expanded over time into other service areas, such as maintenance.
“Parenting with ISL will allow us to enhance the service offering we can help deliver customers”
Steve White, head of transformation accounts at Yotta said: “We have a lot of local authority customers using our software for the operational management of their services but we are increasingly being asked by customers in the UK and internationally about round and workload balancing and route optimisation provision, which is not our specific area of focus.
“Parenting with ISL will allow us to enhance the service offering we can help deliver customers while also expanding our reach into previously untapped markets. With that in mind, we have been introducing ISL to partners across the UK and also in Europe. And we are looking forward to bringing those new capabilities to the market.”
Cross-over
“The next stage will be to feed data from Alloy’s Yotta software via an API to ISL’s RaaS cloud solution”
Alan Paget, managing director, ISL, added: “We believe there’s a natural cross-over of clients between Yotta and ourselves. Yotta has always been strong in highways maintenance and environmental services. As it expanded its portfolio in these areas, we saw an opportunity to help provide enhanced route optimisation which is key to delivering optimum levels of environmental efficiency in these areas.”
“The focus of the partnership so far has been on providing consultancy services to the Yotta client base. The next stage will be to feed data from Alloy’s Yotta software via an API to ISL’s RaaS cloud solution, helping to return optimised local authority service routes in seconds.”
