Osmond takes charge of Onyxpak as Cooke departs

Onyx Environmental has confirmed that Edward Cooke, who had been manager of the firm's compliance arm Onyxpak, has left the company.

A spokesman for the company told letsrecycle.com: “He has left the company, but it is not Onyx policy to comment on individual staff members. Terry Osmond has assumed responsibility at Onyxpak.”

With expertise in the field of recycling and UK compliance, Mr Cooke was one of four compliance scheme representatives appointed to the government's new Advisory Committee on Packaging in September 2002.

At the first meeting of the ACP, Mr Cooke was put on the Targets and Infrastructure Task Force – looking at how the government might optimise packaging waste recovery and recycling targets and boost UK infrastructure in order to meet tough European targets – and also the Enforcement Task Force, looking at issues of regulation within the industry.

It is not yet known whether Mr Cooke's place on the ACP will be affected by his leaving Onyxpak. However, he is expected to have to stand down, although appointments are made on an individual basis.
