Attendance

For 2023, the free to attend two-day event is on track to be one of the best attended editions as the sector truly emerges from the pandemic.

The event has been designed specifically for the UK’s metals recycling sector by bringing together peers from across the country for networking, as well as designing a speaker schedule to hear about sector developments.

Speakers for 2023 include representatives from the largest metals recycling companies operating in the UK. This includes EMR, Recycling Lives and many others. Most discussions also have a Q&A section where you can directly speak to industry leaders.

Associations such as the British Metals Recycling Association and the Vehicle Recycling Association will also be speaking, with topics spanning regulations, fire safety, batteries and market conditions.

An industry dinner will also take place at the Chesford Grange Hotel to raise money for Child Bereavement, which is almost fully booked.

This will see around 200 of the industry’s key players looking for relaxed networking, including a three course meal, entertainment, and charity auction fundraiser.

Three recognition awards will be presented to those nominated in the industry for the following categories:

Net Zero

The metals recycling sector is changing and now plays a central part in the country’s net-zero aims, but sometimes quite how this can be done can be confusing.

For 2023, the event will feature a new conference theme focused around net-zero with sessions on how to conduct carbon review on your business, the journey to decarbonisation and navigating sustainability for a metal and auto recycling industry. These are just must-attend sessions for anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint and operate in a more sustainable manner.

Two day event

The first day of the event is packed with content and networking opportunities will see the themes of: Waste Classification (POPS and Hazardous Waste), BAT regulations with WTEE appropriate measures, personal and professional development, advanced sorting and recycling around the world with perspectives from the USA and Global Insights.

Day two will see green parts take the morning by storm, with four curated sessions delving into the different aspects confronting green parts specialists, from insurance, working together, repair, selling, and global perspectives on this. Moving on to fire and lithium iron batteries, and careers and employment discussions.

In addition to the conference sessions, CARS 2023 will feature a series of practical workshops delivered by the Business Doctors, a team of expert consultants who provide business coaching and mentoring to help companies achieve their goals. These workshops will provide attendees with practical insights and strategies to help them grow their businesses and improve their bottom line.

Back by popular demand are the skills lab sessions, delivered by vehicle expert Andy Latham. These practical sessions will cover a range of topics, including dismantling techniques, depollution, and the latest trends in vehicle recycling. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from one of the leading experts in the field and gain valuable insights into how to maximize the value of their automotive recycling operations. eBay will also be hosting a tips and tricks workshop – with further details to be published this week.

After proving popular at other events run by the CARS organisers letsrecycle.com, a ‘Meet the Buyer’ networking session will also be launched at CARS as well.

Onsite prize giveaways such as the Autoshear Pro, breakfast meets with free giveaways, and more.

The Young British Metals Recyclers (YBMR) and those under 40 who are interested in joining the association will also come together for the onsite YBMRA brunch meet – a relaxed ‘lunch and learn’ style networking meet up.

The outdoor area at CARS will host plenty of eateries, including a horsebox bar and music.
