Celebrating its seventh anniversary and returning in-person for the first time since 2019, letsrecycle.com’s one-day London Conference will take place at 41 Portland Place, London.

Supported by ReLondon and the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee, presentations will include updates from the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the East London Waste Authority (ELWA).

Attendees will discuss the impact of the Resources and Waste Strategy reforms, including extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging, on London boroughs.

There will also be a number of practical case studies from across London and beyond, including on topics such as recycling in flats, electric vehicles, coffee pod recycling, and district heating.

And, the event will allow plenty of time for Q&As, networking and knowledge sharing.

Limited final tickets are available for £250 plus VAT and £160 plus VAT for local authorities. To view the full programme and secure your ticket visit here.

The day will open with a session setting the scene in London, chaired by Islington council’s waste strategy manager, Matthew Homer, and featuring presentations from Andrew Dunwoody of the GLA, Andrew Lappage of ELWA, and Anthony Buchan of ReLondon.

After lunch there will be a panel discussion on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the EPR reforms on London. Panellists include Eunomia’s Peter Jones, the London borough of Hounslow’s Cindy Gardener, Serco’s Natasha Epstein, and Osborne Clarke’s Katie Vickery.

Finally, the conference will conclude with a session on case studies, chaired by Michael Singham, waste strategy manager at Richmond and Wandsworth councils. Nicola Grant, executive director of Positively Putney, will talk about trade waste scheme Putney Pedals, while Rick Hindley, executive director of Podback, will discuss coffee pod recycling.

There will also be case studies from Alastair Thorpe, account director at Vattenfall Heat UK, and Doug Simpson, senior advisor for circular economy at ReLondon, who will address district heating and the circular economy respectively.
