IWPP Ltd appoints new commercial manager

Mr Burton will join the organisation at its Daventry offices and comes from Scunthorpe-based Bells Waste. In his new capacity, Mr Burton will be charged with growing the trading arm under the management of chief executive Simon Ellin. The appointment of Mr Burton is part of a number of changes at the organisation, which saw Peter Seggie named general secretary last month following the retirement of David Symmers (see letsrecycle.com story).

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Burton: Recycling has grown tremendously over the last 10 years and the level of resources available to the industrial markets is likely to grow further. IWPP offers a significant opportunity to marry up these resources with the right global markets.

LWaRB chooses Foresight partner for investment role

The body charged with driving the development of waste infrastructure in the capital, the London Waste and Recycling Board, has appointed Nigel Aitchison, industrial partner at private equity firm Foresight Group, to its investment committee.

Mr Aitchison brings almost 25 years combined experience in the waste management and investment industries to the role, which will involve him providing expert advice to LWaRB on potential investments to be made in recycling and renewable energy projects in London. Prior to joining Foresight in 2008, Mr Aitchison spent 19 years in the waste industry, including time as a director at Shanks Waste Management and 10 years working for UK Waste. While at Shanks, he was instrumental in the successful bid for the East London Waste Authority PFI project and led the negotiations on key elements of this 1.5 billion contract and also led the Dumfries and Galloway PFI contract to financial close.

Commenting on Mr Aitchisons strengths, Andy Holdcroft, chief operating officer at LWaRB, said: Nigels financial experience and track record in the waste industry contributes a dedicated expertise, which further strengthens our commitment to building Londons low carbon economy.

Three board memberstaken onby Dennis Eagle

Refuse vehicle manufacturer Dennis Eagle has appointed three new members to its board of directors.

Richard Taylor has been promoted to the role of sales and marketing director having originally joined the company in 1990 as sales administrator. Mr Taylor has since held roles as sales office manager and head of sales and marketing. Meanwhile, head of purchasing Keith Day, who originally joined the company in April 2002 as interim purchasing manager, has been promoted to the role of purchasing and key projects director. And, Carl Hughes has been promoted from head of manufacturing to manufacturing and plant director. Mr Hughes began working with Jack Allen in 1999, from where he transferred to Dennis Eagle in 2001 as business planning manager.

Norman Thoday, managing director of Dennis Eagle, said: Keith, Carl and Richard all have a long history with the company and their experience will be an asset to the board. This is an exciting time for Dennis Eagle as we continue to lead the market through innovation and service and I would like to congratulate our new board members and wish them every success in their new roles.

Bob Harris named UK sales manager at Taylor

Container manufacturer Taylor has appointed experienced salesman Bob Harris to the role of UK sales manager.

Mr Harris has worked in sales since 1988 and has operated as an area sales manager for the Droitwich-based company for the past three years. In his new role, Mr Harris will be responsible managing Taylors sales team, as well as maintaining sales growth. The company said that Mr Harris had been a high performing area business manager over the past three years and that he had also managed Taylors northern territory.

Mr Harris said: Taylor is one of the strongest companies in this industry; its commitment to continuous improvement of products and services makes it a rewarding place to work. From the 1st of March I have taken on the role of UK Sales Manager: I look forward to the new challenges that this will present to me, and to working with the rest of the management team to support Taylors growth.

CK Polymers appoints three new commercial managers

Lincolnshire-based CK Polymers has taken on three new commercial managers, who will be responsible for sourcing new business for the whole organisation.

The three members of staff will be introduced in a staggered fashion. For example, Jon Coombe joined the plastics recycling company on March 21 and is set to cover the East and South of England in his new role. Meanwhile, fellow new appointees Louise Markham and Ian Jillings will join the firm on April 10. Ms Markham, who has several years in sourcing plastics, will be charged with covering the Midlands, North West and North Wales. And, Mr Jillings, who ran his own plastics company, will cover the North West, North East and Scotland. Existing commercial manager David Hunt will now cover the Midlands, South Wales, South Wales and Ireland. All four will report to Chris Collier.
