ENTRUST, the regulator of the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), has appointed Dr Ann Limb as a non-executive director of its board from January 2012.

Dr Limb is a former group chief executive and director of the University for Industry where she was responsible for the implementation of the governments flagship e-learning initiative – learndirect, as well as overseeing its development with another nationwide e-service – UK online. During 2004 to 2010 she also worked as a government adviser both in the UK and overseas.

Currently holding a number of senior public and private sector non-executive directorships and in addition to joining ENTRUSTs Board, Dr Limb has also recently been appointed as chairman of the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership. Ann was awarded an OBE for her public service and services to education in 2011.

Philip Smith, ENTRUSTs chairman said: I am delighted to welcome Ann to ENTRUST. She has been chosen for her senior level and non-executive experience which will enhance our strategic direction as we seek to deliver a more effective service for the Environmental Bodies currently enrolled under the LCF.

OSS appoints group commercial manager

Waste oil and hazardous workshop waste management specialists OSS Group has appointed Mark Olpin as group commercial manager with a position on the executive management committee.

Mr Olpin was previously responsible for the UK operations of the Spanish owned hazardous waste company Tradebe.

With over 20 years of experience in the waste management sector, both in the UK and overseas, his previous experience includes the management of commercial, municipal and industrial waste, industrial services, integrated site services, transportation, dry recycling and clinical waste management.

At OSS Mr Olpins main role will be to identify new commercial opportunities, develop relationships with strategic partners and extend existing business lines. He will also fully utilise his M&A experience to assist with OSS Groups expansion through targeted acquisitions. He will be based at the companys head office in Knowsley, Merseyside.

The specialist WEEE compliance scheme for the lighting industry, Recolight, has announced the appointment of a new compliance manager, Derek McNair.

Mr McNair will be responsible for helping to ensure that Recolight, as well as its collection points and recyclers, operate in compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation.

Mr McNair said: I am extremely pleased to be joining Recolight and look forward to working with all our customers and suppliers, maintaining and improving the high standards in compliance and customer service.

Recolight chief executive Nigel Harvey said: Were very pleased to welcome Derek to the team. He will play an integral role in ensuring that we are able to maintain the very highest health, safety and environmental standards on which our reputation is founded, and to provide the invaluable support and expertise our collection network expects from us.

LRS Consultancy strengthens senior management team

LRS, the resource management consultancy, has made two senior appointments to support the companys next stage of growth and development.

Claudia Amos, who has 12 years experience in providing technical and commercial advice on infrastructure projects throughout the waste hierarchy and renewables sector, and Samantha Dunn, who is a specialist in sustainable supply chain management, have joined the team as Principal Consultants from this month.

Their appointments will see LRS extend its existing service offer into producer responsibility and develop its infrastructure and investment offer to ensure that the full resource loop is supported. These two new appointments follow the recruitment of Paul Levett, former deputy chief executive of Veolia Environmental Services UK, who joined LRS Consultancy Ltd as chairman in October 2011.

The appointment of new expertise at such a senior level is a direct response to our clients and the industrys demand for support to develop the resource efficient economy that the Government has outlined in its waste strategy review, and meet the demands of the EU roadmap to resource efficiency.

WEEE recycling firm appoints new operations manager

West Yorkshire based WEEE recycling company, Sunersol, has appointed Simon Boyd as its new operations manager.

The specialist waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling firm works with councils and waste management companies to offer a closed loop recycling service.

In a statement, Sunersol said that the Mr Boyd, a former EnvironCom and Viridor employee, was the ideal candidate for the role due to his knowledge of recycling and reuse of WEEE and experience within the industry.

Sunersol managing director, Craig Thompson, said: Sunersol is a growing business and attracting someone with the experience and pedigree that Simon has is testament to the companys hard work and ambitions within its first 12 Months of trading. Having Simon on board is a fantastic opportunity for Sunersol to continue to grow and develop further.
