New health and safety campaign for Aylesford Newsprint

Paper recycler Aylesford Newsprint is running a health and safety campaign at as part of the European Week for Health and Safety at Work, which begins on Monday.

All staff and contractors at the Kent-based mill will see the safety message reinforced, with a particular focus on transport issues.

Employees will be invited to attend seminars on a variety of subjects aimed at tackling improving safety across the site and will also be able to take part in several associated activities. This year's campaign will also look at mobile plant dangers, pedestrian safety awareness, safe driving techniques and vehicle maintenance issues.

Running from 18-24 October, the week long event is promoted by the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work which “aims to make Europe’s workplaces safer, healthier and more productive”.

To achieve this, a team of enthusiasts from across the Aylesford Newsprint site have put together a week of events designed to highlight practical safety to all mill employees.

Essential
Commenting on the campaign, Aylesford Newsprint's commercial manager, Chris White, said: “It is essential that leading companies, such as Aylesford Newsprint, set a good example when it comes to health and safety as this underpins everything we do in our working lives. In this way we can contribute to ongoing improvements in the safety record of the industry.

“Participating in European Week for Health and Safety at Work is just one of the ways in which we reinforce this message throughout our mill,” he added.
