The Dorset-based company told letsrecycle.com yesterday that attracting the chief operating officer for treatment at SITA also signalled the start of “significant expansion” to New Earth's operations.
” Peter will be driving the business forward day to day “
– Peter Mills, New Earth Solutions
Mr Gillatt will replace New Earth's current managing director Bill Riddle by Christmas, allowing Mr Riddle to focus on land acquisition and technology development as company chairman.
New Earth also hopes that Mr Gillatt will help to forge better relationships with local authorities and waste contractors, from his experience working for a much larger waste management company.
Peter Mills, contracts director at New Earth, said: “To have someone of Peter's standing on board is a great vote of confidence. Peter will be driving the business forward day to day. We have developed our technology and won contracts, and now we need to get an accelerated roll out of our technology.”
Expansion
New Earth, which currently has eighteen employees, holds contracts to provide composting to Bristol, Kent and Essex and residual waste treatment to Bournemouth and Dorset.
Mr Mills said: “Our new managing director signals the start of a significant expansion in our activities and business area. By managing the business activities, he will enable us to focus on developing technologies in other areas of the waste stream. We will be expanding our staff, building facilities in Kent and expanding our facility in Poole for a second time.”
