Molson Group wins Masters of Waste 2022

A team of four from equipment dealer Molson Group has won the Masters of Waste 2022 golf tournament, held on 4 May, with a score of 108 points.

The prestigious tournament, in its 11th year, was organised by letsrecycle.com at the Burhill Golf Club, Walton-on-Thames. Waste and recycling professionals from across the industry took part.

Molson Group’s winning team consisted of Danny Thomas, Adam Meeking, Charlie Downs and Dan Bailey.

Last year’s winners, UK Container Maintenance (UKCM), came a close second with 107 points, while KP Waste came third with 99 points.

On the individual front, Charlie Downs from Molson Group was the highest scoring male, bagging 48 points, while Tom Rutherford from Blue Machinery Southern scored 45 and Danny Thomas, also from Molson Group, scored 44.

The top scoring female was Bev Chattaway from Quick Cosign with 36 points, with Kirsty Hillsden from NRG runner-up with 16.

Competitions

The day also played host to a series of other competitions.

Chris Nicholls of Veolia won longest drive on hole 7, sponsored by the Recycling UK Group.  Warwick Blake of Biffa won straightest drive on hole 8, sponsored by Veolia.

Tom Lee, also of Blue Machinery Southern, won nearest pin in two, sponsored by Hillend Engineering, while Tom Rutherford from the same company bagged the nearest pin in three award, sponsored by Ulster Shredders.

Neil Hylands of UKCM won nearest to the pin on hole 8, sponsored by Grundon.

Rob Mowat, director of letsrecycle.com, said: “It was another fantastic day and great to see familiar faces again, with people enjoying themselves despite what has been a challenging period. Well done to all the teams who took part.

“Next year marks the 12th anniversary of the event, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back again.”
