Letsrecycle.com’s National Food Waste Conference returns

The annual National Food Waste Conference organised by letsrecycle.com celebrates its fifth anniversary this year.

The National Food Waste Conference will take place at the Cavendish Conference Centre in London, as it has in previous years

This year’s event takes place on 10 March at the Cavendish Conference Centre in London, as it has in previous years.

The conference will see experts from the industry such as food waste processors, producers, waste management companies, local authorities, and charities come together to discuss current topics in the sector.

In the first session, Chris Jonas, director at Tolvik Consulting, will speak on the anaerobic digestion (AD) market in the UK.

Then, an expert speaker from WRAP will discuss the results from the food waste action road map.

And, Jenny Grant, head of organics at the REA, will look back over the path to net zero in organics.

This year’s event is sponsored by waste management company GAP Group, waste products manufacturer Farid Hillend Engineering, and food waste collection company Keenan Recycling, amongst others.

Tickets cost £250 plus VAT and £160 plus VAT for local authorities.

In the third session, Leanne Williams, lead policy analyst at ADBA, will look at the potential of AD plants.

This will be followed by Thomas Minter, director at Malaby Biogas, discussing technology, regulatory and quality impacts on waste treatment.

To round up, there will be a panel on the capacity of AD plants with Ian Pickles, head of food at Biffa, and an expert speaker from Olleco.

Case studies

The fourth session will close with case studies, the first one being a retailer case study.

A behaviour change expert from another sector will provide their input, with the last case study on a ‘1-2-3 collection trial’ presented by Kelly Heller, partnership and programme manager at West Sussex county council.

There will be time for Q&A in each session, as well as opportunities to network throughout the day.
