While the Queen did not directly refer to the Bill in her speech to Parliament today, she referred to legislation that will be brought forward “to protect our environment”
The speech also included a reference to proposals to tackle anti-social behaviour and this is expected to include measures to tackle flytipping.
More details are expected to be released by the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs this week about the landfill permits Bill. It will provide for local authorities to trade landfill permits and is an important part of the government's bid to reduce the amount of biodegradable waste sent to landfill.
