Kouakou takes the reins at Aylesford Newsprint

Aylesford Newsprint Holdings managing director Ian Broxup has left the company with executive chairman Landry Kouakou taking over day-to-day control as chief executive officer.

Mr Broxup joined Aylesford Newsprint as finance director in 1996, and was appointed managing director following the acquisition of the company by Martland Holdings in October 2012 (see letsrecycle.com story).

The surprise announcement of Mr Broxups departure follows his appointment as treasurer of the Confederation of Paper Industries just a few months ago in May, when he replaced John Denham who had held the post for 11 years.

It is understood Mr Broxup will now also cease his activities as treasurer of the CPI, with the association looking to appoint a new person to the role.

Mr Kouakou said that Mr Broxup had been instrumental in the success and development of the business up to this point and added that: the Board and I would like to express our unreserved thanks to Ian for his hard work, dedication and professionalism. I am very pleased to say that Ian will continue to act as an advisor to the Board on a part-time basis.

‘Missed’

Commenting on his departure from the Confederation, its director general, David Workman, said Mr Broxup would be missed.

He said: Ian has been an active participant in the CPI for many years. He sat on numerous councils including the full council, and was appointed treasurer of the CPI in May this year.

Aylesford Newsprint was formed in 1993 as a Joint Venture between SCA Forest Products and Mondi Group. It was bought debt-free by the Martland Holdings which is a private US-based investment holding company engaged in acquiring non-core divisions of large corporations and private companies worldwide.
