Following the submission of its planning application to Knowsley metropolitan borough council earlier this week (see letsrecycle.com story), the company has clarified that the waste for the site will be sourced locally but there are currently no contracts in place.
A spokeswoman for Energos indicated that, while it had no links to the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority, a future relationship with the winner of the MWDA's contractor was a possibility.
The spokeswoman told letsrecycle.com: “It is a local, small scale facility for local waste needs; Energos will be entering into dialogue with waste management companies at a later date when appropriate.
“It is separate to the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority, however Energos is open to engagement with the successful tenderer,” she added.
The news comes after the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority yesterday moved a step closer to the award of two waste management contracts worth £3 billion, including the treatment of the region's residual waste (see letsrecycle.com story).
