The facilities are self-contained waste management units, complete with balers, housed in a transportable 20-40ft container. It is customised to include whatever the equipment and services required by the company are.
The first order is from a major Algerian industrial site who have asked for two 20ft shipping container units. “The chemical company wanted a complete waste transfer station with balers, which will recycle card, plastics, bulbs and glass.” said Nick Jobson, sales manager of waste management at Jarshire.
“Food waste will have liquid extracted from it and will then be used for mulch. The company has various deals with local companies who will collect the material for recycling for free,” he added.
The facilities can be used at factories and industrial sites, hotels, schools and universities, building sites, small town and public events and can cut transporting and handling costs by up to 90%, claim Jarshire.
Powered by an integral generator, the units house a twin chamber baler, jet washer, aerosol piercer, spill kits, waste oil tanks and crushers for aluminium cans, drums, glass and bulbs.
Associated equipment includes 100 collection bins, fresh water tank, diesel tank, pallet truck, porter trolley and a drum handling trolley.
All equipment, apart from the bins, is bolted to the container floor, and the staff cabin is air conditioned and fitted with an extractor fan and electrical connections.
The energy used in transporting recyclables to a processing facility often exceeded that saved by the subsequent use of recycled materials, but the containers cut out the need for transportation, say Jarshire, which has a patent pending on the units.
