
The council said it anticipates some disruption to its in-house waste collection services as a result of the collision.
Police are currently investigating the incident which took place at around 6.35am in Selsey, Sidlesham close to Chichester.
When contacted by letsrecycle.com, a spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that it responded to a road traffic collision involving a car and a ‘dustcart’.
One person from the car, who was “fully conscious”, was treated at the scene with “injuries including leg pain” before being taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.
‘Investigating
Chichester district council confirmed that one of its refuse vehicles was involved in the incident and that “police are currently investigating”.
In a statement, the council said: “The incident has meant that there may be some delays to our recycling collections in Selsey, but we are working hard to minimise disruption to residents. We are asking our Selsey residents to please continue to leave their recycling bins out because we intend to collect the recycling as soon as we can.”
“Emergency services attended the scene and thankfully there were no serious injuries.”

This afternoon, Sussex Police confirmed the collision involved a ‘dustcart’ and a Renault Clio in Selsey Road, Sidlesham, at around 6.35am on Tuesday (19 March).
The Clio driver “reported minor injuries and was seen by paramedics,” a Sussex police spokesperson said. “Vehicles recovered and road clear as of 8.20am.”
