The incident occurred at approximately 2pm on January 5 and resulted in the death of 34-year-old Mark Nylad, the driver of a waste contractors delivery vehicle.
A spokesman for WRG said: Waste Recycling Group confirms that the driver of a contractors waste delivery vehicle died following an accident at the companys Milton Landfill Site in Cambridgeshireon Thursday afternoon, January 5.
It was reported by the local press that Mr Nylad died after being crushed between two vehicles.
The WRG spokesman added: WRG are working with the relevant authorities, including the Health and Safety Executive, to investigate the incident. The company has been in contact with the drivers immediate family to express its deepest condolences.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police told letsrecycle.com that they attended the scene following reports of a sudden death at the landfill site at 14:06 on Thursday January 5.
He added: The incident is not being treated as suspicious and has been passed over to the Health and Safety Executive.
An inquest was opened on Tuesday (January 10) but was immediately adjourned.
A spokeswomanfor the HSE said: Inspectors from the HSE have visited the site andwe arenow investigating the incident.
Fatalities
Mr Nylads death is the sixth in the waste and recycling sector in 2011/12 (see letsrecycle.com story) all of which occurred within a four-month period. Three of the fatalities within the sector happened over three consecutive days in mid-December.

The number of fatalities tripled from three in 2009/10 to nine in 2010/11 however the 2010/11 figure is provisional – the HSE will finalise it in June 2012 following any necessary adjustments arising from investigations.
