The 25-year-old man, who has not been named, suffered injuries to his arm and shoulder. The incident took place at MSK Waste Management and Recyclings site on River Road in Barking, Essex, at approximately 14:40.
The man was attended by several paramedics, before being air lifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
A spokeswoman for London Ambulance told letsrecycle.com today (August 20): We were called just after 2:40pm on Friday August 17 to reports of an incident at River Road, Barking. We sent two ambulances crews, one duty officer and a single responder in a car and the London Air Ambulance. Staff treated a man, reported to be 25, for injuries to his arm and shoulder. He was taken by air to the Royal London Hospital.
The HSE said that it is investigating the incident. An HSE spokesman said: The HSE is aware of an incident in Barking on Friday and are currently investigating the circumstances. We have got an inspector going to the site.

A spokeswoman for MSK confirmed that the incident took place but said the company would not be issuing a statement at the present time, out of respect for the victim.
MSKs provides a range of services to the construction sector including waste management and recycling, on-site logistics and rail infrastructure services.
At its Barking site, the firm operates a recycling centre, which features a waste sorting line. MSK handles a wide range of materials, including: cardboard; glass; paper; plastics; waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE); metals; and, fluorescent tubes.
