The fatality occurred on Friday morning (July 22) and involved a 39-year-old man who was trapped behind a lorry at the authoritys Gateside Road civic amenity site in the Louganhill area of Coleraine.
A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said that police attended an industrial accident in the Gateside Road area. He added that the Health and Safety executive had taken over the scene.The civic amenity site has remained closed since the incident to allow investigations to take place. A spokesman for the HSE said today that investigations were continuing.

The Mayor or Coleraine, Alderman Maurice Bradley, said: Coleraine Borough Council confirms that a tragic incident occurred at one of its facilities that resulted in the death of a member of council staff. Councils heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. The Health and Safety Executive are now leading an investigation.
The man who died has been named locally as Alan Devenney who was married with two children.The civic amenity site involved collects a wide range of materials including garden waste, cardboard, wood, scrap metal, rubble and electrical items.
