Barbara Herridge, co-ordinator of the national waste awareness initiative and who is based at the Waste Watch offices, has been appointed acting executive director. Prior to her current post, Ms Herridge worked for waste management firm UK Waste.
Mr Georgeson, 39, has been at the helm of Waste Watch for nearly five years, and was previously its education officer from 1992 to 1995. His involvement with the organisation dates back to its formation in 1987, when he was one of its original supporters at its launch by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
Jane Stephenson, chair of Waste Watch said: “We are very sorry to lose Ray, but wish him well in his new post and look forward to a positive and constructive relationship with WRAP as it develops its work. He has worked tirelessly to build a strong team at Waste Watch, and develop the financial strength of the organisation, as well as increase the profile of Waste Watch's valuable work in policy development, education, information and awareness raising on waste.”
Ray Georgeson said: “Waste Watch has been a big part of my life for a very long time, and I will miss it. However, the challenge represented by WRAP and its potential to deliver substantial progress in sustainable waste management is one I will relish, and I look forward to working with Jennie Price, Vic Cocker and the Wrap team.”
Herridge steps up in interim for Waste Watch as current director departs to WRAP
Recruitment for a new executive director for Waste Watch, the leading charity promoting waste minimisation and recycling is to start immediately.
