borough councils working together to test the feasibility of household
recycling projects.
Hart District Council – for its innovative recycling projects within new
housing developments including underground bottle banks.
Best industry recycling initiative sponsored by Biffa
OSS Group Ltd – for its new system “OSCAR” that treats oily dirty water
with the capacity to extract up to 10 tonnes of waste oil per day – the oil
had previously been unrecoverable.
PPR Wipag – for its unique innovations in automotive plastics recycling
where laminated and painted plastics are recovered from both waste and reject
material and also end-of-life vehicles.
Royal Albert Hall – for its extensive campaign for recycling a variety of
materials both “behind the scenes” and at “front of house”.
Best partnership project for recycling sponsored by Evolve (M-Real)
North Ayrshire Council – a joint partnership with ICI and Tarmac Recycling
Ltd to produce quality compost from Ayrshire's household greenwaste, using a
redundant ICI plant and service provision from Tarmac.
The Recycling Consortium – for the Community Waste Action programme to
support local authorities set up community based initiatives, with an annual
partnering of up to 10 councils.
