Exhibitors gear up for RWM 2011

Over 600 exhibitors and a comprehensive seminar programme are among the highlights at one of the biggest events in the waste industry calendar, RWM, which takes place between September 13 and 15 at Birminghams NEC.

This years event is the first RWM to be held under the banner RWM in partnership with CIWM, bringing together the RWM and Futuresource shows.

It features the usual range of exhibitors representing all aspects of the waste and recycling industry, ranging from vehicle and equipment providers through to consultancies and trade associations.

And, across the three days, 90 speakers are scheduled to appear in the events six seminar theatres, with former politician Lord Digby Jones, sustainability journalist Lucy Siegle and environmental advisor Jonathon Porritt delivering keynote addresses.

British Bins (stand 2292)

Describing itself as the UKs leading online supplier of high-quality wheelie bins, London-based British Bins will be showcasing its services, which involve it distributing both plastic and metal wheeled bins, as well as other waste and recycling containers.

The company is able to modify products to suit its customers needs, and is ready to supply any order value, from individual wheeled bins for households through to dozens of container loads of bins for export.

Fichtner Consulting Engineers describe themselves as one of the leading engineering, project management and technical advisory teams in the UK waste management, process and renewable energy sectors.

As well as being independent they are owned by the Fichtner family and senior members of staff Fichtner has chosen to be a pure consultancy rather than a contractor with a consultancy arm.

The company has worked on a range of high-profile waste projects, such as the Greater Manchester and Lancashire waste PFI contracts and the Lakeside energy-from-waste facility that has been jointly developed by Grundon and Viridor in Berkshire. Global Recycling (stand 978)

Nottinghamshire-based Global Recycling will be using this years event to showcase its services as UK distributor for equipment companies Shred-Tech, Bandit Industries and Hammel.

Shred-Techs range includes mobile document shredders which are able to meet the BSIA European standard of 9mm and 16mm shredder material, as well as turnkey static processing plants which can produce uniform finished products, processing almost any material.

For Bandit, products include biomass wood chippers and a range of shredders which are all able to produce the European G30 and G50 biomass chip. It also includes stump grinders ranging from pedestrian to fully-remote control, all-terrain machines.

And, Hammels range includes a number of primary slow speed shredders, which are capable of handling all materials, as well as turnkey static processing plants with a direct connection to the primary shredder to produce a uniform end product. ISYS Interactive Systems (stand 1940)

Describing themselves as market leaders in the supply of waste and recycling software, ISYS Interactive Systems offer systems with a wide range of applications.

These include: transfer stations; commercial and trade waste; hazardous waste collection; clinical waste; waste-to-energy plants; recycling companies; landfill & quarry; metals recycling, and WEEE.

Kirk Environmental (stand 2715)

The team from Kirk Environmental will be on hand to discuss any anaerobic digestion or biogas requirements. Kirk offers over 30 years of worldwide installation experience and claims to have earned an unrivalled reputation through years of successful project completions.

The company is a global specialist contractor in the design, supply and installation of liquid storage tanks, AD tanks and BIODOME Double Membrane Gas Holders, poured in-situ concrete tanks, structural access steelwork, pipework, cladding and installation.

As well as exhibiting at RWM, Knowaste will be using the event as an opportunity for attendees to visit what is the UKs first ever specialised recycling facility for nappies, feminine hygiene and adult incontinence products.

Located just 20 miles from the NEC, the facility uses autoclave technology to produce sterilised final products which are suitable for a diverse range of reprocessing markets. From absorbent hygiene waste Knowaste is able to reclaim plastics for use in bins and rooftiles and fibres for packaging and board.

The company is keen to discuss how recycling rates for the waste stream can be driven up, in a cost effective and sustainable way, with the aim of tackling the one million tonnes of absorbent hygiene wastes produced each year in the UK. More details can be found at http://www.knowaste.com/.

Menart (stand 702)

Equipment specialist Menart will be using this years RWM to showcase the P-160-DS shredder, which represents an evolution of their preview P-145 range but also offers numerous new features.

These include an increase in power, a feed hopper floor that provides a better grip for material and a compactor roll with greater clearance which, according to Menart, allows a greater throughput of material.
