Eco buys new bullet proof Viby buckets
The organics recycling firm bought both a seven cubic metres and a three cubic metres bucket this year after being impressed with their existing Viby Hy-Tip buckets. Eco operations manager Steve Harman said: They just dont break. They are bullet-proof.
Ecos expanding operations include producing woodchip for biomass, green waste composting, in-vessel composting and ‘clean wood’ operations, while its diverse range of customers include local authorities, the National Trust and waste companies such as Viridor and Biffa.
Mr Harman added: The sheer diversity of our applications means we need excellent versatility from our plant and machinery. Production is key for us we simply cant afford to have downtime. The Viby buckets give us continuity, which is essential for our operation.
Burdens’ Welsh AD adds pumps to improve gas yields
Durable pumps with additional shredding knives are helping to improve gas yields at Burdens Llangadog anaerobic digestion plant in Carmarthenshire, South Wales.
Burdens project engineer, Arrasg Shirani, said: With Landia we have developed a very efficient pre-treatment chopping and blending process. We are achieving just the right consistency for the mixed feedstock, which results in very healthy gas yields.
Mr Shirani adds: Importantly too, we have no downtime because both Landia pumps just keep on working, so we save on costs, time and hassle with maintenance, which is also a big benefit.
Taylor launches nationwide Courtesy Bin service
Bin manufacturer Taylor has launched a new courtesy bin service throughout the UK in order to assist local authorities with their bin refurbishment.
The new service will see Taylor teams exchange local authorities bins with Taylors Continental 1,280L Courtesy Bins in order for their exiting bins to be refurbished. The bins are then refurbished at Taylors 20-acre plant in Worcester before being returned and the Courtesy Bins taken away again.
Julian Gaylor, Taylors Sales and Marketing Director, said: Most of us have benefitted from a courtesy service such as a courtesy car at some point. Taylors Courtesy Bin Service is no different. Weve launched it to take the hassle out of coordinating a replacement service for local authorities when they embark on a refurbishment programme. The feedback has been extremely positive and were confident that it will continue to be a success.
S+S unveils shredding protection equipment
Two new pieces of equipment have been launched by equipment manufacturer S+S this month the Plasticon metal detection system and the Varisort mixed material contamination remover.
The Varisort, meanwhile, is an integrated system using a range of fitted and electronically controlled precision air jet nozzles to remove unwanted fractions from mixed materials with a minimum loss of wanted material.
A range of detectors are combined in the system to enhance its functionality, including including NIR (Near Infra-Red), CCD linear cameras and X-ray scanners.
New portable air monitoring sampler launched
The Coriolis uses new wet-walled cyclone technology that enhances sampling for bacteria, pollen, endotoxins, viruses and fungal spores and can be used effectively for both high and low burden air.
Air Monitors managing director, Jim Mills, said: This is an exciting development and I think that as scientific knowledge in this area grows, it will become a standard method very quickly. In the meantime, I can see a wide variety of research and air quality investigation applications that would greatly benefit from this technology.
