Kiverco has developed the mobile compact plant range to provide an alternative to traditional ways of processing waste.

Designed for the small to medium size waste processing operator or mobile contractor, the new range includes a feeder trommel, a picking station and density separator.

According to Finlay Hire, the plant has the capability of processing up to 150m³ per hour.

In completing the installation, Bradford council becomes Whitham Mills’ twentieth UK local authority customer.

Bradford council procured the system to rationalise its handling of the estimated 20,000 tonnes of co-mingled recyclates it collects from households every year via its ‘All in One’ system.

The new GB-1108F fully automatic channel baler is fitted with a large, open hopper to accommodate the loading shovel and is capable of producing ten, 500-kilo bales per hour.

The installation is backed up with a 36-month warranty and site attendance within 24 hours in case of a breakdown. While on site repairs are guaranteed to be completed within 48 hours.

Cambridgeshire-based plastics recycling specialists PLASgran has purchased a ‘state-of-the-art’ differential scanning calorimeter DSC 3+ from Mettler Toledo.

According to PLASgran, the system, which can measure melting points, glass transition temperatures, oxidative stability and crystallisation rates, amongst other things, is a ‘valuable investigative and analytical tool’ for the characterisation and understanding of composition and morphology of a wide range of polymers.

The £40k investment will be situated in PLASgran’s Technical Development Centre, opened earlier this year.

S Norton & Co prioritises investment

Metal recycler, S Norton & Co, has prioritised investment in new materials handling equipment and supporting its independent customer base after reporting a return to profitability in its latest published accounts for 2016.

New cranes are arriving at Barking as part of a £10 million overall investment programme in efficiency and capacity at its London site. Similar investments are also planned over the coming months across the family-owned Group’s Liverpool, Manchester and Southampton sites.

According to chairman, John Norton, robust performance over the past 12 months has put the Group into an ‘excellent position’ to push forward with its five-year plan aimed at driving future growth and enhancing service to its independent scrap producer partners.

Britcon – based in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire – reports the £13.5 million construction project was completed within the allocated 66-week timeframe and on budget.

The new £32 million plant will convert inedible food waste into renewable energy and sustainable biofertiliser. The site is capable of processing more than 160,000 tonnes of food waste every year, generating 14 million m3 of biogas.

As principal contractor for the project, Britcon managed the entire build project, including groundworks, remediation works, piling operations, structural steelwork buildings and construction of works for multiple high rise, post tensioned, circular, reinforced concrete digester, receiving and gas storage tanks.

And, Britcon delivered a carbon neutral, high specification office complex, and depackaging building.
