Lancashire Waste invests in sixth UNTHA shredder

Alternative fuel production specialist Lancashire Waste says it has halved plant wear costs and boosted manufacturing capacity by investing in a sixth UNTHA shredder at its site in Fleetwood.

Since it was established in 2013, Lancashire Waste has made solid recovered fuel at the site, where an UNTHA XR2000 pre-shredder fed two TR3200s secondary shredders to produce a renewable energy source for the cement industry.

Now, the original XR2000 feeds a new 85rpm XR3000XC machine, and the company says it has achieved a capacity of 30 tonnes per hour.

Lancashire Waste’s founder Jim Entwistle said: “As a business, we’re constantly looking to progress, so consistency and capacity are key to our operation.

“We work with three UK cement kilns and one export off-taker, and the better quality the fuel, the more our clients seek.

“We’ve doubled our supply to one kiln, for example, over the past 18 months, so the impact on our business from savvier waste shredding is vast.

“Add to this 40% less energy costs, halved wear costs and only minimal damage repairs as we’ve moved away from high speed machines, and the business case for our shredder investment is extremely strong.”

The company says it has also increased its throughput at its Burnley line to 20 tonnes per hour with the acquisition of a 65rpm XR3000XC.

Doosan announces changes to Irish dealer network

Construction machinery manufacturer Doosan Infracore Europe has announced changes to its authorised dealer network in the Republic of Ireland, effective immediately.

Embankment Machinery Sales, based in Naas in County Kildare, is now responsible for sales and service for the full range of Doosan crawler and wheeled excavators in Leinster, Munster and Connacht.

The Philip P. McCormack Plant, based in Clane in County Kildare, is to be responsible for sales and servicing of the Doosan wheel loader range in the same places.

Anthony Pearce, UK & Nordics regional sales leader for Doosan Infracore Europe, said: “Working closely with both EMS and Philip P. McCormack Plant, we are aiming to continue to grow our business in Ireland in a positive and sustainable manner.

“I see these latest moves as a fantastic opportunity whilst continuing to provide the Irish market with an unrivalled level of service and customer support.”

Founded in 1977, Doosan designs and manufactures construction machinery, offering a range of compact equipment, crawler excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks, engines, air compressors, lighting systems, generators, components and accessories.

H.R. Skip Hire purchases telescopic loader

Sheffield-based H.R. Skip Hire has purchased a Bobcat Waste Expert telescopic loader from AMS Bobcat Limited, the authorised Bobcat dealer for Lincolnshire and East and South Yorkshire.

The TL38.70HF was supplied with Camso TLH 792S 13 R24 tyres, heavy-duty Dana Spicer axles and additional reinforced protection.

In the Waste Expert machines, all-round panoramic visibility is provided by a patented Asymmetric Cab with ROPS/FOPS Level 2 protection and a pillarless rear window.

Barry Howe, one of H.R. Skip Hire’s owners, said: “We decided to purchase the Bobcat telehandler to meet increasing demand particularly in the summer period at the very busy waste transfer station at our headquarters in Sheffield.

“Providing a lifting capacity of 3.8 tonne and lift height of 7 metres, coupled with its excellent specification to meet the tough conditions of the waste and recycling industry, the new TL38.70 Waste Expert machine allows us to increase productivity and throughput.”

At its waste transfer station H. R. Skip Hire disposes of all kinds of processed waste, including soil, concrete and metal.

Bunting to expand manufacturing plant

Industrial equipment supplier Bunting is expanding its European manufacturing plant and offices at its site in Redditch, just outside Birmingham.

Work on the expansion started in November 2019, with the entire roof of the existing manufacturing plant to be replaced.

This will be followed by two separate building projects, which will increase manufacturing and office space.

Adrian Coleman, general manager of Bunting-Redditch, said: “The demand for such magnetic separation technology continues to grow and we needed to rethink our manufacturing strategy.

“The increased manufacturing floor space will result in improved productivity with the aim of shortening production lead-times.”

The additional manufacturing area is to be designed to suit the building of metal separation modules for the recycling industry, large electromagnetic overband magnets for mining applications and high intensity magnetic separators for mineral processing.

Mr Coleman said: “The Redditch expansion is driven by increased demand. As mineral and raw material reserves dwindle, companies are forced to exploit less pure reserves and process recycled materials.

“Our equipment separates impurities from such materials or recovers the valuable metallic constituents, and we are seeing a significant increase in both enquiries and orders.”
