The pilot plant will be installed and operated by global contractor Kanadevia Inova after it is moved from its current location at Enfinium’s Ferrybridge-1 facility in West Yorkshire.

According to Enfinium, the site will host the only active carbon capture pilot in Wales and could be the first pilot deployed in the wider HyNet industrial cluster, pending a decision from DESNZ in the coming months.

Second pilot plant for CCS
A second pilot plant will subsequently be installed at Ferrybridge by British technology company Nuada.
The company is looking to scale a metal-organic framework (MOF) technology that captures carbon dioxide from point sources through a vacuum swing process.
Both pilot projects will run for at least six months and form part of Enfinium’s plan to deploy CCS across its six UK facilities.
