Deadline extended for Awards for Excellence entries

The entry deadline for the Awards for Excellence in Waste Management and Recycling 2011 has been extended until Thursday March 24 cater for a late rush of submissions.

letsrecycle.com editor Steve Eminton - here at the Awards for Excellence 2010 praised the strength of entries so far for the 2011 Awards

The original entry deadline expired on Wednesday (March 16), however, a flurry of late applicants has led to organisers letsrecycle.com opting to extend the deadline to allow more potential entrants to prepare their submissions.

The Awards for Excellence, which are in their eight year, are the leading industry celebration of achievements from the private, public and voluntary sectors.

Taking place at the newly refurbished Savoy Hotel in central London on May 12 2011, this years Awards cover 10 categories, such as High Street Recycling Champion, Innovation in Design of a Waste Management Facility and, for the first time, Recycling Business of the Year.

The afternoon ceremony will be hosted by journalist and Channel 4News broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy and the Awards themselves will be preceded by a champagne reception and a three-course meal.

Steve Eminton, editor of letsrecycle.com, said: We have taken the option to extend the deadline a little further to match demand from interested parties earlier in the week. From what I have seen, we have had some strong entrants so far.

This extension will give those worrying about rushing in an application that little bit of extra time to really get across why they think their achievement or achievements deserve to be recognised by the industry.

The Awards for Excellence 2011 are supported by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Environment Agency, the Environmental Services Association (ESA) and the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (NAWDO).
