![]() Corus has invested funds derived from packaging producer responsibility to revamp its educational website |
The new website, re-launched as part of this week's Big Recycle campaign, now contains updated information on steel packaging recycling and new consumer and educational resources.
The site is aimed primarily at members of the public, children, and teachers.
Corus said recycling officers and those in local authorities with educational responsibilities can now direct their residents to the site for more information on steel packaging recycling.
As well as interesting facts and figures on steel packaging recycling, the revamped website includes an interactive quiz and an animated film describing the recycling process. The site also contains a range of resources for those in the recycling industry, including a consumer fact sheet which can be downloaded and used by local authorities.
Teachers and local authority educational officers can also download a variety of resources for use in the classroom in both English and Welsh.

The Steel Can Recycling Information Bureau forms part of the Corus Steel Packaging Recycling unit, the company's centre of technical and communications expertise on steel packaging recycling. The unit aims to promote the recovery and recycling of all types of steel packaging in the UK through the use of funds from packaging waste recovery notes (PRNs).

Corus communications manager Naomi Pope said: “Education continues to be a key focus for Corus’ PRN investment. During 2005, we supported a number of school and education projects, all of which had the same objective – spreading the steel packaging recycling message and generating enthusiasm among the next generation of recyclers.
“We hope that local authorities will promote the website in their own communication materials and encourage people to recycle even more of their household steel packaging,” Ms Pope added.
