The Agency had been hoping to announce a decision by February 21 but is still considering matters raised during the consultation period. In particular, Wiltshire Health Authority is providing further information following its initial submission outlining health issues arising from burning tyres.
The Environment Agency is also considering a number of recent breaches of coal burning limits at the plant. Enforcement action may be taken and the Agency intends to carry out a compliance audit at the Westbury site before making any decision on the tyre burning application.
In these circumstances a new timescale has yet to be established but will be announced when finalised. The Agency has once again pledged to hold a public meeting towards the end of the determination period.
The Environment Agency's response to the public consultation will be published before the meeting to aid the discussion.
Copies of Blue Circle's application and all the consultation documents are available on the public register at the Agency's Bridgwater office. Copies of the application are also held at West Wiltshire District Council, Bradley Road, Trowbridge and at Westbury Town Library.
