Collection crews sought for Excellence Awards

Businesses, councils and charities are being encouraged to submit entries to the 2015 Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management run by letsrecycle.com the deadline for submissions fast approaching.

Entrants have until midday on Thursday 19th March to submit their 500 word entry for the judges’ consideration.

In particular, councils and waste management firms are being urged to nominate their hard-working collection crews for recognition in this year’s Awards.

The coveted Collection Crew of the Year gong has previously been won SITA UK’s Olympic Games recycling crew and a crew in Croydon which battled flooding to keep collections in the borough running.

Dubbed the ‘Oscars of the waste industry’ Awards – and sponsored by the likes of Saica Natur, Wastecare, Ceris Burns International and Biffa – the accolades are now up for grabs in 11 categories, with entries scrutinised by an experienced, independent judging panel.

The awards are sponsored by Biffa, Bywaters, Ceris Burns International, Electrolink, REPIC, ESA, Saica Natur, Taylor Bins and Wastecare.

Dedication

Now in its 12th year, the awards scheme celebrates the innovation and dedication of the UK recycling sector – including local authorities, commercial companies and community groups – for its efforts in driving better use of resources and increasing recycling rates.

Categories include the Retail Recycling Champion, Circular Economy Success, Waste Management Initiative in the Commercial and Public Sector, and the Best Local Authority Recycling Initiative.

Winners in 2014 included: the British Heart Foundation; social enterprise Bulky Bobs; KP Snacks and The William Tracey Group.

All finalists receive two free tickets to the glittering awards ceremony, which takes place on Thursday 14th May 2015 at one of London’s most prestigious venues, the five-star Landmark Hotel. The awards will be hosted by journalist and broadcaster, Eamonn Holmes.
