The Awards for Excellence, now in their ninth year, are the leading industry celebration of achievements from the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Taking place at the Landmark Hotel in central London on May 1 2012, this years Awards cover 10 categories, including the Best Local Authority Recycling Initiative of the Year, Commercial Recycling Champion and Collection Crew of the Year.
Last years winner of the Collection Crew accolade went to Carl Bilboe and John Burgess, the who make up the garden waste collection crew at Wyre Forest district council. The garden waste collections began a paid-for collection service in April 2010 and now have over 1,300 customers. The crew has received praise for the high level of service they provide, with comments that they are always happy, good-humoured and willing to help and give advice.
If you would like to enter or nominate a worthy crew or put forward an individual or organisation in one of the other categories, simply visit the Awards for Excellence website and submit an online entry-form. You need to submit a summary of the award entry with any supporting information that you would like to add.
The Awards are being held in association with Palm Recycling and are supported by the Environment Agency, Environmental Services Association and LARAC. The ceremony will be hosted by veteran Channel 4 News presenter, Jon Snow.
