Launched on 12 December, the quiz saw letsrecycle.com readers invited to answer 10 questions based on our news coverage from 2022, with the winner receiving a bottle of champagne and £200 for charity (see letsrecycle.com story).
After receiving scores of entries – unfortunately, too many to respond to individually – those who answered all 10 questions correctly were put into a Permiserv hat and the winner selected at random.
Winner
Ms Attwood has opted to donate the money to the South Northants Community Responders, a charity initially set up to help people in rural areas who suffer cardiac arrests.
“I am delighted to have won the letsrecycle.com Christmas Competition 2022,” Ms Attwood said. “The money will be donated to South Northants Community Responders, who are volunteers trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work.
“Their aim is to reach a potential life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives. The money will go a long way and I know they will be delighted.”
A spokesperson for the charity said: “We are delighted to have been nominated by your competition winner to receive £200.
“This vital donation will go towards ensuring our response kits are fully maintained, keeping our volunteer responders available to support their communities, responding to time critical emergencies while an ambulance is being dispatched.”
‘Thrilled’
The competition’s sponsor, Permiserv, is a waste management software company specialising in print and fulfilment as a full solution for local authorities to manage waste services.
Louise Lambourne, sales director at Permiserv, said: “A huge thank you to everyone for entering and Permiserv would like to congratulate Eloise for winning the competition. The money is going to a great cause. We were thrilled to be sponsoring this year’s event.”
Entries
Steve Eminton, editor of letsrecycle.com, thanked everyone who entered the competition this year. “In times when the news is a bit gloomy, it is nice to be able to announce a winner and a contribution for a good cause,” he said.
“A particular shout-out to those who managed to guess the answer to number 8. A few of you said Havant, when we actually asked for the county, which, of course, is Hampshire!
