Chief executive of the Wastepack Group leaves company

The chief executive of the Wastepack Group, Paul Ashworth, has left the company.

Mr Ashworth had been chief executive at the Group, which includes the UK’s second largest compliance scheme, since October 2001 (see letsrecycle.com feature).

A former managing director of Amey, the support services company, and with experience at the Flight Services Division of Alpha Airports Group, Mr Ashworth played a key role in the restructuring and development of Wastepack and the integration of its services.A statement from Wastepack confirmed: “Paul Ashworth, chief executive of the Wastepack Group since October 2001, has left the company by mutual consent to pursue other interests. The Wastepack Board has expressed its thanks to Paul Ashworth for his many contributions to the company and its wishes for his success in the future.”

Commenting on the development, Mr Ashworth said: “The Wastepack Group is a tremendous business with a great future and I wish it well.”

The company said it intends to make an announcement “in the near future” about a successor.

Speaking to letsrecycle.com, Wastepack’s communications manager Mike Beard said that the development of the group would continue with a “very strong team” and a “clear, long-term vision”.
