Leicestershire county council, Leicestershire Police, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are all investigating the incident.
According to the police, the boy’s injuries were neither life-threatening nor life changing.
A Leicestershire county council spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an incident on the access road of Oadby’s recycling and household waste site on Saturday.
“Leicestershire Police have been investigating the circumstances. The county council has been helping with that inquiry and is carrying out its own investigation.”
Leicestershire’s 14 HWRCs are run in-house by the county council.
Health and safety
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told letsrecycle.com they were called to a recycling centre in Wigston Road, Oadby, shortly after 3.45pm on 2 April, following a report that a car had collided with a barrier.
They said: “Officers attended and one occupant – a 17-year-old – was taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening or life changing. The matter has been passed on to the Health and Safety Executive.”
A spokesperson for the HSE told letsrecycle.com: “HSE is aware of the incident and making enquiries.”
