B&M acquires AWS Recycling’s trade waste division

B&M Waste Services has continued its expansion in the Midlands by acquiring the trade waste division of AWS Recycling.

Birmingham-based AWS Recycling is a commercial waste specialist with operations throughout the Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley and Wolverhampton area.

The company also operates a MRF for commercial waste in Birmingham, which it will continue to run after the acquisition, as well as focusing on its core operations of skip and RoRo collections.

The deal with B&M Waste, which has sites across the country, comes on the back of “an eight year partnership” between the two firms. B&M said the pair have taken the “natural step” through the acquisition.

The acquisition of AWS’ trade waste division by B&M also follows on from its move to a Birmingham depot in 2017.

B&M waste was established in 1999 and says it offers “recycling-led waste management solutions to businesses across the UK”.

The company also acquired One Stop Managed Waste earlier in 2019, which “further strengthened B&M Waste Services’ presence across the Yorkshire region.”

Commenting on the deal, Mick Ashall, director of B&M, commented: “After only two years we are a significant force in the West Midlands conurbation. Customers from Kiddiminster to Stratford-upon-Avon, from Cannock to Redditch are gaining the benefit of our customer focused service backed by the depth of investment in our vehicles, staff and reporting.”

Steve Weir, managing director of AWS, added: “Having worked with B&M Waste we knew of their investments in new vehicles, weighing and reporting.  We felt that as a family company with a great customer and CSR focus, they were a natural home for our customers and staff.”
