Commercial Waste Ltd, which ran the website, provided a range of services in the commercial waste sector in the west London area. Commercial Waste’s operations include a company with a call centre and fleet of vehicles and depots including one at Walton-on-Thames.
Full details of the acquisition are still to be released but it is understood that the deal was made recently.
Commercial Waste Ltd had a strong internet presence and with the purchase Biffa has gained a number of web addresses relating to waste management. In particular, Commercial Waste Ltd promoted its activities via the domains www.commercialwaste.co.uk and www.wastecollection.co.uk – both now divert readers to the Biffa website.
Wheeled bin services
Commercial Waste Ltd was known as Bishco London Ltd until earlier this year and is understood to have been owned by Andrew and Carey Bishop.
The company advertised wheeled bin services, ranging from 240-1100 litres, and its slogan was “The Local Choice. Call Us.”
Commercial Waste said it specialised in serving West London and handled all waste streams. On its website it noted: “Our prices are fixed for one year, are cheap and do not involve complex contracts. We will help any business with their commercial trade waste needs and provide a free audit, an emailed quote and advice on the best service for their company. If you’ve tried other waste companies and are looking for a reliable cost effective waste collection service, call us now for expert, free advice.”
The company also said that “We offer waste collection, recycling collection, dry mixed recycling, cardboard recycling, paper recycling, plastic recycling and food waste. Local and National food waste collection services are now offered to new and existing customers.”
sub-it.co.uk

Commercial Waste Ltd also had connections with a number of waste related domain names.
According to the History page of www.londonsrecycling.co.uk, in 2013 Bishco (London) Ltd of Twickenham trading as www.londonsrecycling.co.uk and www.sub-it.co.uk said it was established in 2006 and in a short span of 7 years, “we have become the leaders in the field of waste management.”
Callers to sub-it.co.uk are now diverted to Biffa but the website still exists. However, www.londonsrecycling.co.uk appears now to belong to IWMS Ltd of Northampton, part of the Green House business rather than Biffa.
Note: since enquiries were made this week about www.londonsrecycling.co.uk and the content of the History page, it has been deleted.
