The council has put forward a proposal under its Bath Western Riverside regeneration project to develop a site on Locksbrook Road into a new recycling facility. The Locksbrook site is council-owned land, which is currently being used for the council’s street cleansing activities.
It has said the new facility, if approved, will replace an existing centre located on Midland Road in Bath.
Under the proposal, the new centre will provide collection facilities for residual household waste and recyclables as well as collection services for scrap metal, large electrical items, cardboard, garden waste, bulky waste and soft furnishings.
According to the council a “face-to-face” drop-in session will be held on 18 June to give residents an opportunity to go over the plans and ask any questions they may have. Residents will also be able to make comments online regarding the proposals until 30 June.
‘Aim’
Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: “We are sharing our proposals for household waste recycling facilities and welcome feedback. Our aim is to create a facility which allows people to continue to recycle and reduce their waste locally. The Midland Road site would then be developed for much-needed housing.”
The council has also highlighted that the current centre will remain open until the new facility is ready.
