Bakers Basco extends investigation services to Northern Ireland and Scotland

Bakers Basco, a joint venture between Allied Bakeries, Fine Lady Bakeries, Frank Roberts & Sons, Hovis, and Warburtons has announced it has extended its services to Northern Ireland and Scotland.

The company which was set up to manage equipment have stated that the recent expansion will aid in the company’s goal to curb the mismanagement and misuse of their equipment.

Bakers Basco has highlighted that it has appointed investigation teams in Northern Ireland and Scotland to conduct site visits, address illegal activities and mis-use of the equipment such as retail mis-use, baker mis-use, third party mis-use and reselling on social media platforms.

These investigators will work in tandem with the audit teams to recover equipment.

Stacey Brown, national investigations manager for Bakers Basco said “Our commitment to managing and policing the use of our equipment extends beyond England. By establishing a presence in Northern Ireland and Scotland, we aim to strengthen our efforts in preventing misuse and ensuring the longevity of our equipment and to keep it in the circular economy.”

Investigations

During one of the teams’ recent visits the team’s recent visit across Northern Ireland, spanning Belfast, Antrim, Londonderry, Cookstown, and Bangor, Bakers Basco’s reported that its investigation manager recovered a total of 1,328 baskets—consisting of Omega, Allied, and Hovis varieties—alongside 675 dollies from unauthorised locations and bakeries where such equipment shouldn’t have been found.

The company has stated it has engaged legal support for cases in both Northern Ireland and Scotland. Worthingtons Law will handle legal proceedings in Northern Ireland, while Livingstone Brown will oversee matters in Scotland.

This comes after in November of last year Bakers Basco uncovered an “illegal chipping operation” in Bromwich involving around £10,000 worth of its stolen bread trays, with the lady behind the scheme fined more than £40,000 (see letsrecycle.com story).

The woman named as Ms Zaina Hussain was found solely responsible by the court, Bakers Basco said, the other two defendants were her fiancé Mr Ansari and her father Mr Jahangir Hussain.
