The deal will see Aylesford take 12,000 tonnes of paper each year collected from Hills' 20-year waste and recycling contract with Wiltshire county council and four of its districts – the majority of the Wiltshire Waste Partnership.

The Partnership, made up of Kennet, North Wiltshire, Salisbury, West Wiltshire and Wiltshire county councils, received nearly 1 million from DEFRA to introduce a new kerbside collection which includes paper, a key part of Aylesford's new contract.
Tim Miller, recycling promotions manager at Hills Waste Management, said: “The material will be coming traditionally from paper banks and now we have just introduced a kerbside collection to 57,000 households using a grant from DEFRA, collecting paper and other materials.”
The kerbside scheme is operated by Hills in eight Wiltshire towns and collects glass, cans and foil, textiles, shoes, catalogues, junk mail, white printer paper as well as newspapers and magazines. Mr Miller reported that so far the scheme is “going well and meeting expectations”. Currently, Wiltshire has a recycling rate of nearly 22% and has a target of 33% for 2006.
Previously, Hills had a four-year contract with the Aylesford for paper collected only from paper bring-banks. Commenting on why the company chose to continue with Aylesford, Mr Miller said: “We chose Aylesford because they offered us the best long term security and prices and because they are an established company.”
