Atlantic Recycling death undergoes investigation

South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the death of a man following an incident at the Atlantic Recycling site in Cardiff, Wales.

The deceased worker has now been named locally as Kyle Colcomb.

At approximately 12.45pm on 8 July, emergency services were called to a report of an injured man on the site on Newton Road. The man died of his injuries and his family were informed.

Detective Sergeant Richard Hill, from South Wales Police, said: “We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the man who sadly lost his life.

“Our aim now, together with the Health and Safety Executive, is to carry out a robust investigation and establish the cause of this tragic incident.”

Another incident

The firm’s parent company, Dauson Environmental Group, said the incident involved a “contractor carrying out maintenance” at the site. Dauson said in a statement on Monday that it was “continuing to support the emergency services and regulators with their ongoing investigations at this time”.

This incident follows another death of a worker, Anthony Bilton, at the Atlantic Recycling site in 2019, which saw the company fined £300,000. Atlantic Recycling told letsrecycle.com at the time that it had “reviewed and heightened” its health and safety measures.
