Director among new staff at RVS

Mr Thomas has over 20 years experience in the industry, working as a hydraulic fitter for engineering firm, Dennis Eagle, and more recently setting up a vehicle safety technology firm.

A provider of quality used and remanufactured vehicles, RVS has doubled in size over the past four months with the appointment of eight new members of staff since November 2013.

Spencer Law, managing director at RVS, said: We are growing fast and to meet increasing demand we have taken on more engineers & mechanics. Jonathan has joined the company to assist me in developing the business and brings with him a wealth of experience and attributes that will further endorse our market position. Its an exciting time for us.

New policy officer at LARAC

Sarah Mallen is to join the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC) as its policy support officer.

Ms Mallen will partly replace Liz Drew, who left in January, spending one day a week on a second arrangement with Staffordshire county council.

Ms Mallen has co-ordinated Staffordshire councils response to climate change since 2008 – when she took the council through the Carbon Trusts Local Authority Programme and has also helped develop corporate policy on energy efficiency.

Mike Sewell to lead Kier energy service

Kier Group has appointed Mike Sewell to develop its energy management and services offering as part of its 125 million facilities management business.

Mr Sewell joins Kier as head of energy having spent over 20 years in the sector including roles with Dalkia and strategic outsourcing business Mitie, where he led development of its CarbonCare proposition.

At Kier, he is developing an end-to-end integrated energy proposition, which is hoped will enhance Kiers offering to clients.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Sewell said: Kiers current service provision is second to none, with a real strength in delivering complex projects within an extensive geographical network. Both factors provide an ideal platform for developing a complete energy services package.

BMRA appoints five board members

The British Metals recycling Association has appointed five new board members to fill existing vacancies and replace members who are retiring.

David Barraclough, director of Robinson & Birdsell, John Boyd, managing director at JSB Metals, Susie Burrage, director of Recycled Products, John Rice, a director of Metal & Waste, and Alasdair Jackson, operations director at Recycling Lives took up their roles on the BMRA board on March 25.

Graham Davy, president of the BMRA, said: We are delighted to welcome the new additions to the board as they bring a wealth of experience and will be able to serve our members well.

BMRA, which represents the UKs 5.6 billion metals recycling sector, is looking to improve the relationship between its members and the public in 2014 with noise complaints a common concern.

Eriez Europe announces new recycling sales manager

John Cope has been appointed recycling sales manager for Eriez Magnetics Europe, manufacturer of magnetic separation, metal detection and vibratory equipment.

Based at the firms European headquarters in Caerphilly, South Wales, Mr Copes role is to increase Eriezs sales in the growing recycling markets across the continent.

He has previously worked for the Recycling Company and Biffa, where he sold on commodities processed in materials recycling facilities.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Cope said: Im now operating on the other side of the fence, providing the tools for businesses and their partners to recycle waste material but my background enables me to see things from the customers point of view which is really helpful.
