WRAP appoints two new board Trustees
Resources charity WRAP has announced the appointment of Sue Corbett and Sophie Thomas as new board Trustees.
Sue Corbett has a background in the publishing industry and as Executive Director of international development charity INASP.
Ms Corbett said: “I’m a keen supporter of programmes which deliver social benefits to people, and programmes that offer sustainable solutions to businesses and communities. WRAP’s work fulfils both, so I’m looking forward to helping WRAP continue with these efforts.”
Sophie Thomas is a professional designer and founder of the Great Recovery, a programme building understanding of benefits of the circular design principles. She is currently the design advisor for the Circular Economy Task Force and in 2015, was nominated as CIWM’s Industry Leader of the Year.
Ms Thomas said: “It is a great pleasure to join the board of trustees at WRAP and I hope to utilise the different knowledge I bring to the table.”
Dr Liz Goodwin, Chief Executive at WRAP said: “Sue brings international leadership experience and a passion for social improvement. And Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge on design which will help towards our work on the circular economy.”

Vanden Recycling announces two senior appointments
Lee Fitzpatrick and Andrew Fendick are to join County Antrim-based Vanden Recycling in senior roles.
Lee Fitzpatrick joins Vanden Recycling after working in the waste and recycling industry for the past 25 years both in the UK and internationally – most recently in South Africa. His new role will be to strengthen existing relationships within the company’s customer bases and look at new opportunities for the company’s expansion.
Also joining is Andrew Fendick, who is looking to grow the company’s plastics business in the Scottish market and develop a national presence in waste paper.
Mr Fendick has been involved in the trading capacity of the recycling sector since 2002 and has worked for The Environment Exchange and joining International Forest Products in 2007 – where he grew and diversified the business into plastic and steel. Since, he has been involved in a business start-up as well as taking time out for a career break.
Mr Fitzpatrick added: “It is an exciting time to be joining Vanden Recycling. The company is growing rapidly and we will collectively be looking at ways to expand our offering and create tailor-made recycling solutions to meet the varying needs of businesses.”

Matthews joins Shanks Group as non-executive chairman
Waste management firm Shanks Group has appointed Colin Matthews CBEE as non-executive chairman.
The appointment comes following Adrian Auer’s decision to step down, and is effective from 1 April 2016.
Colin Matthews’s leadership experience spans multiple countries and industries including roles as CEO of Severn Trent plc where he held leadership experience in waste management – and as the non-executive Director at Johnson Matthey plc and Chairman of Highways England.
Mr Matthews said: “I am delighted to be joining Shanks. With the rest of the Board I look forward to working with the management team to lead Shanks successfully through its next phase of development.”
Senior Independent Director at Shanks, Eric van Amerongen said: “We are delighted to welcome Colin to Shanks. His significant experience leading companies such as Heathrow Airport, Severn Trent plc and Hays Group plc will bring an important fresh perspective and his insights will help Shanks in the next stage of its development.”

Taylor Group appoints general manager for Oldham site
Marcus Davies takes up the role of General Manager for Taylor Group’s Oldham site, where Sellers’ range of products are manufactured.
Mr Davies, who is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, will be responsible for improving the Oldham site’s operational efficiency and implementing a production framework across its existing product portfolio.
Joining the Group from his previous role as Gas Value Stream Manager at Crane Building Services & Utilities, Mr Davies said: “I’m looking forward to bring over 20 years’ experience of manufacturing and strategic growth to the Egbert Taylor Group and play a role in seeing the company flourish over the next 12 months. The Oldham site, where Sellers’ products are manufactured, is at an exciting stage in its lifecycle.”
Chief Executive of the Egbert Taylor Group, Brendan Murphy added: “In Marcus, I am confident that we have found someone who will help take the Oldham site to the next level and we welcome him to the team.”
