Nick Horler takes up Chair of CIRQLR with immediate effect

Business recycling group CIRQLR has appointed Nick Horler as Chair with immediate effect, bringing more than 30 years of executive and board-level experience across the utilities and logistics sectors.
Horler has spent the past decade supporting fast-growth energy infrastructure and services businesses, helping to expand market share and strengthen customer relationships while delivering investor returns.
Earlier in his career, he held senior roles in the energy sector, including Managing Director of the retail arm at E.ON UK and a leadership position at Scottish Power during a key growth period.
He said: “It is great to be on board as CIRQLR, supported by iCON Infrastructure, steps up a gear in its growth and recycling services offering.”
David Palmer-Jones OBE, founder and CEO, added: “Across the whole group at all levels our CIRQLR people will gain from the experience Nick brings in helping other high growth energy and related infrastructure companies manage their integration.”
Guy Stuart joins Exchange for Change board as Non-Executive Director
Exchange for Change, the UK Deposit Management Organisation, has appointed Guy Stuart as a Non-Executive Director, representing large retailers on its board.
Stuart currently serves as Director of Technical at Sainsbury’s, where he is part of the commercial leadership team overseeing technical and agriculture strategy, including packaging, legislation, and extended producer responsibility.
He joins the board following nomination by the British Retail Consortium.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Stuart said he was “delighted” to take on the role at Exchange for Change, the not-for-profit organisation tasked with delivering the UK’s Deposit Return Scheme for drinks containers across England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
He added: “Exchange for Change is a business-led, not-for-profit organisation, committed to delivering a Deposit Return Scheme that works for consumers, producers, retailers, and the environment.”
BIR creates new Membership Acquisition and Development Officer role

The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has appointed Sofía Placitelli as Membership Acquisition and Development Officer, a newly created role aimed at supporting its international expansion.
Placitelli joined the organisation on 7 April 2026, bringing experience in membership engagement and stakeholder relations.
Originally from Uruguay, she holds a degree in International Studies from Universidad ORT Uruguay and previously worked for a leading trade association in a similar capacity.
In her new role, she will focus on growing BIR’s global network, with particular emphasis on Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Arnaud Brunet, Director General of BIR, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sofía to the BIR team.
“Her international perspective and proven track record in membership development will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen BIR’s presence in emerging markets.”
