Tom Spaul to retire from Veolia after 24 years

Mr Spaul had held the position of chief operating officer but was appointed to the executive role external affairs role in April 2013, following a raft of changes that saw Estelle Brachlianoff brought in as chief executive (see letsrecycle.com story).
A Veolia spokesperson said: We can confirm that after 24 years with the group, Tom Spaul is retiring. During this period he has been a major contributor in building Veolia Environmental Services into the leading recycling and waste management company in the UK.
Tom remains a director of the company and will continue to give us the benefit of his knowledge and experience whilst working for us on a consultancy basis.
Envac appoints Magnus Sjstrand for UK operations
Underground vacuum waste management system developer Envac has appointed Magnus Sjstrand to head up its sales and marketing team in the UK.
Mr Sjstrand has worked with Envac to develop a market for its products in Hong Kong and China, and is expected to strengthen the firms position and build on the success of its Wembley installation.
Welcoming the appointment Magnus Sjstrand said: Envac is currently in a unique position. Firstly, as the originators of this technology we are still viewed as best in class and are able to stand head and shoulders above our competitors. Secondly, there has been a huge shift in the perception of waste over the last few years.

AMEC strengthens waste consultancy team
Consultancy firm AMEC has reinforced its European waste team with the appointment of Geoff Price and David Chance as technical directors in its Environment & Infrastructure Europe business.

Both join from waste and renewable energy business Covanta Energy, with Mr Price serving as its energy-from-waste engineering director and Mr Chance as project manager on the firms Ince facility.
Mr Price and Mr Chance will now apply their expertise to Viridors Exeter EfW on behalf of AMEC, which is supplying process interface engineering and health and safety supervision.
Rob Brown, managing director of AMECs Environment & Infrastructure business in Europe, said: I am delighted to welcome David and Geoff to the business.
They have a proven track record in waste infrastructure projects and significantly strengthen our offering in energy from waste, a sector that offers a substantial opportunity for growth. Reconomy appoints corporate account manager
Waste service provider Reconomy has appointed Tom Seward to the role of national corporate account manager as part of its ongoing expansion programme.
Mr Seward will oversee the strategic development of Reconomys national key accounts across a portfolio which includes blue chip clients and contractors in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Commenting on his new post, Mr Seward said: From an operational viewpoint, I have ten years experience within the waste industry, working with a range of prestigious and corporate clients throughout the UK.
As such, I am well versed with the varying needs and demands made by such companies and look forward to being able to use this experience to help provide an outstanding level of service.
