UKWSL announces Archer as sales director

Roland Archer joins UKWSL

Waste and recycling brokerage, UKWSL, has announced the appointment of Roland Archer to the board as sales director.

Mr Archer joins UKWSL from F&R Cawley where he held the position of head of sales for three and a half years. Prior to this, Mr Archer spent over seven years at SITA UK, working his way up to senior corporate development manager.

As sales director for UKWSL, Mr Archer will lead the development and direction of the sales and account management teams, formulating strategies to increase market share.

SEaB Energy appoints advisory board pair

UK-based waste to energy technology company, SEaB Energy, has appointed two new advisory board members as it ramps up its global expansion plans.

The company said, in their advisory capacity, Ronald Sams and Alan Barton will bring their global leadership skills to boost the company’s commercial plans and streamline its operational activities.

Mr Sams has held a number of international operational and MD positions in the engineering sector, including Executive Operational responsibility for Augusta-Westland Helicopters UK.

Mr Barton, who has worked in the waste sector for 30 years, led Arup’s global resource and waste business and was previously managing director of Shanks East London.

Investments MD joins Amey executive team

Asif Ghafoor joins Amey’s executive team

Public service provider, Amey, has announced that investments managing director, Asif Ghafoor, is joining the executive team.

Asif joined Amey in 2006 as finance and commercial director, and since then has developed its investments arm ‘significantly’, said the company, adding that he also played a key role in many strategic projects including North Yorkshire Waste, M8, Sheffield Highways and Isle of Wight Waste.

According to Amey, over the past ten years, Asif and his team have helped raise over £4 billion of private finance, including traditional bank debt, bond issues and European Investment Bank funding.

SHEQ manager for Hadfield Wood Recyclers

Matt Hilton, Hadfield’s new SHEQ manager

Matt Hilton has joined Hadfield Wood Recyclers as the company’s new group safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) manager.

Mr Hilton has more than 20 years experience in health, safety and quality roles in both the chemicals and manufacturing industries.

He joins Hadfield Wood Recyclers from his former role at Polyflor and will be primarily based at the company’s Manchester head office, but will also be responsible for its sites in Middlesbrough and Essex.

Hadfield was awarded the RoSPA Gold Award for health and safety in 2016 and 2017.

O’Donovan named ‘Industry Champion’

Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, has been named as Industry Champion at this year’s FTA everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.

Ms O’Donovan was recognised for her passion and drive to succeed in the sector since the age of 17, and her determination to fundamentally change and improve the transport and logistics industry and the development of those within it.

Based in Tottenham, the family-run business employs 160 members of staff and operates a 90-strong fleet of HGVs across London.

G&P Batteries welcomes new commercial director

G&P Batteries welcomes Tom Seward as new commercial director

Waste battery collection and recycling company G&P Batteries has welcomed ‘seasoned waste professional’, Tom Seward, to its senior management team.            

Mr Seward joins as commercial director from outsourced waste management and recycling company, Reconomy, where he worked as corporate account manager for three years in their house building division. Prior to this, he held several positions at Biffa between 2006 and 2013.

At G&P Mr Seward will be responsible for consolidating G&P’s market position in both the waste lead acid battery and non-lead acid battery arena as well as capitalising on business openings in the lithium waste battery market.
