Recell.store, the UK’s first online marketplace for used EV batteries and part of clean technology group Altilium, has named Simon Reid as Managing Director and appointed former SYNETIQ CEO Tom Rumboll as Board Advisor.

Reid steps into the role after nine months as a financial consultant for Altilium, where he helped launch recell.store, develop its brand, and forge partnerships with fleet operators and dismantlers.

With over 25 years in the UK banking sector, he will focus on driving growth, expanding partnerships, and enhancing customer value.

Reid commented: “With growing volumes of EV and BESS batteries available for re-use and recycling, this a pivotal moment in the evolution of the EV sector and a fantastic opportunity for the UK to take the lead on circularity and sustainability.”

Rumboll brings extensive experience in the vehicle recycling industry and in scaling circular economy businesses.

As SYNETIQ’s former CEO, he oversaw major partnerships in EV recycling and the company’s sale to IAA Inc in 2021.

Rumboll added: “With leading edge technology and processes, supportive and high quality partners, fantastic people and long term thinking, I am excited to support the growth and development of recell.store and help build an at-scale EV battery infrastructure in the UK.”

The appointments come as recell.store scales its platform to meet growing demand for safe, sustainable battery reuse and recycling solutions in the UK.
